It’s been a while since we last shared a library news post on our blog and we have lots to update you on…
The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust Staff Library team are very proud to announce that MY library was rated as 95% compliant against the 2017 Library Quality Assurance Framework (LQAF) 😀
We’ve recently added a whole host of new print resources to library stock, including a number of books recommended for selection by library members. Is there a book you would like to see added to library stock? Why not fill out a suggestion form when you’re next in the library? You can also submit a suggestion by emailing us.
You can find a list of the latest resources added to library stock here and as always, you can access our library catalogue online anytime.
As of January 2018 we no longer charge an overdue fine for late returns and due to popular demand we’ve increased the maximum total number of renewals allowed from 3 to 10 :).
NHS OpenAthens is your portal to access lots of online resources, from electronic journals and eBooks to point of care tools. You can self-register for free here.Recent updates to our electronic resources include:
- Updated editions of Oxford Medicine eBooks; including Oxford handbook of operative surgery [3rd ed] & Oxford handbook of clinical pathology [2nd ed]
- Access to an updated version of our point of care tool, BMJ Best Practice . Find our guide to getting started with BMJ Best Practice here.
We are continuing to work alongside our colleagues from the Dementia team to create our own reminiscence boxes, which staff would be able to loan to use with patients. We’ve previously blogged about this project and we will be sure to update you as we progress.
Towards the end of last year we added a selection of Pictures to Share books (pictured) to library stock. These books are specifically designed to be accessible and entertaining for those with mid to later stage dementia and are available for loan to staff to use with patients. The books have proved popular so far! Click here to find out more.
Reading for pleasure
We have recently added a small number of new fiction & poetry books to our reading for pleasure section – thank you to kind donations from our library members.
If you’re looking for something quick to read on your lunch break, over the weekend or even on the bus home we have a selection of Quick Reads available for loan (these have been loaned to us for a short time from Wakefield Public Libraries). Click here to find out more about the titles available.
Our monthly current awareness bulletin ‘What’s New?’ now has an added health management/policy section. You can view and download the bulletin from the library website and/or contact us if you would like to subscribe to the bulletin & have future editions delivered electronically, direct to your MY email inbox.
Non-medical prescribers bulletin
Since its launch early last year our quarterly non-medical prescribers bulletin is now on its 6th issue, with the next issue due to be sent out soon. You can view and download the bulletin from the library website and/or contact us if you would like to subscribe to the bulletin & have future editions delivered electronically, direct to your MY email inbox.
Until next time.
